SUSTAINABLE SUPPLY CHAIN

FOSSIL FREE RAW MATERIALS

100 per cent of our suppliers will operate according to the environmental, social and economic responsibility requirements by end of 2030 (Supplier Code of Conduct). Metsä Fibre status by end of 2020: 95 per cent.

Share of fossil free raw materials will be 100 per cent by 2030. Metsä Fibre status by end of 2020: 99.99 per cent.

SUSTAINABLE SUPPLY CHAIN

We will increase the amount of decaying wood: high biodiversity stumps in 90 per cent of thinnings and retention trees in all regeneration logging sites.*

The area of regeneration and ma- nagement of young stands will be raised 30 per cent from 2018.*

Traceability of raw materials we use in production will be 100 per cent. Metsä Fibre status by end of 2020: 96 per cent.

ACCIDENT-FREE WORK ENVIRONMENT – ZERO ACCIDENTS

In 2020 we implemented an ethics barometer with an ethics index. Target value by 2030 is 100 per cent. Metsä Fibre status in 2020: 83,5 per cent.

The accident frequency LTA1 target is 0 by 2030. Metsä Fibre status by end of 2020: 6.6.

FOSSIL FREE MILLS 97 100 % We produce no fossil carbon dioxide emissions. Share of fossil free energy by 2030 will be 100 per cent. Metsä Fibre status by end of 2020: 96 per cent.

RESOURCE EFFICIENT PRODUCTION

Climate and environment

All our production side streams will be utilised 100 per cent as either materials or energy. We use raw materials, energy and water as efficiently as possible. Metsä Fibre status by end of 2020: 83 per cent.

Our sustainability themes and targets are aligned with reaching the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and we focus mainly on the following SDGs:

Our use of process water per product tonne by 2030 will be 25 per cent lower than in 2018.Metsä Fibre status by end of 2020: 11 per cent.
